My app has solved these issues through the in-app WatchGroups feature, which allows users to watch and interact with new, relevant videos queued and suggested by other people + algorithms, whilst catering for the increased demand for social interactions through the live chat features embedded within WatchGroups.

Most apps rely on external social media apps to share and interact with people. In relation to sharing, most video apps lack in creating internal social experiences for their users.

To further my research on current curated video streaming apps, I interviewed two people
and based my questions around when and how they use current video streaming apps and
particularly asked them about their sharing and social experiences on these apps.
User 1 is a 15-year-old student and a KFC worker; she catches public transport to and from work
User 2 is an 18-year-old Uni student and works at a security firm

The bitesize video culture of today gained popularity through its use of automatically generated content and infinite scrolling. My app aims to recreate this experience but within a small community or group. Thus, integrating digital social interaction, which our generation loves, with short, curated videos. To do this I created a concept I call “WatchGroups,” where people who share interests in similar categories can meet and watch automatically generated content together, suited to their categorical preferences. Now you can sit back and enjoy both crowd sourced and algorithm-based queues of video, with friends and friends you have yet to make 😁
